#southglosconnect

Reconnecting, resilience and recovery in our school communities

#southglosconnect is the South Gloucestershire community based approach to ‘Recovery’ from the COVID pandemic in our schools and settings. The approach centres on maintained schools, Multi-Academy Trusts, settings and services working together in partnership to create resources and guidance that will be of practical use to our children and young people, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and/carers, governors and the wider community.

The approach is based on the principles of Professor Barry Carpenter’s ‘Recovery Curriculum’ and is now being implemented with facilitation from Sharon Gray OBE. The aim is that anyone working in a school or setting in South Gloucestershire can have easy access to materials to support their work.

We have the following guidance to support your navigation through the materials and information that has been collated:

  1. The resources are primarily for CEOs, Heads, teaching and non-teaching staff in schools and Trusts
  2. In order to use them appropriately you will need to know the approach your Trust or individual school is taking to recovery and where the resources fit within this
  3. The information and resources are best placed when used in conjunction with what is already in place at either a Trust or school level
  4. The resources will be updated, so you will need to consider how this is being disseminated at either a school or Trust level

The resources and guidance are grouped under different headings that refer to the groups that have been put in place to practically support #southglosconnect. We have given you a flavour of what is included, for your information below:

  • Strategic Oversight – this will include links to our newsletters and updates
  • Stress, trauma, loss and bereavement (SEMH) – information and guidance
  • Valuing the unique learner (SEND, EAL, PP, GRT, more able, the tutored child) – guidance and materials to support different groups
  • The curriculum – resources to support a ‘Recovery’ approach
  • Stakeholders – information to support Parents/carers, governors/trustees, staff/Headteacher
