Early Career Teachers (Formerly NQTs)

New teachers are the future of teaching and we believe our comprehensive service will ensure success for your new teachers and your school.

All qualified teachers who are employed in a relevant school in England must, by law, have completed an induction period satisfactorily. From September 2021 NQTs will be classed as Early Career Teachers and follow the Early Career Framework (ECF) induction programme. This supports them over a two year period, providing time out of the classroom and training across both of these years. Statutory induction is designed to build on initial teacher training and support the new teacher to consistently meet the teacher standards. The Early Career Teacher is supported throughout induction and an assessment of performance against the relevant standards is carried out.

Our programme equips the Early Career Teacher with the tools to be an effective and successful teacher and supports them in demonstrating that their performance against the relevant standards is satisfactory. All Early Career Teachers have to be registered with an appropriate body, who has the main quality assurance role within the induction process.

We provide a comprehensive Appropriate Body service and charge for each Early Career Teacher that you register with us. Our service covers all administration required to register your new teachers, with collation and submission of all assessment forms.

Our support includes quality assurance visits to ensure that training through the Early Career Framework is being carried out and both Early Career Teachers and their mentors have access to an ECF training provider.

Induction seminars for both Early Career Teachers and mentors are included as part of our package and provide all the essential information needed to ensure a successful induction year. Our support also includes online drop-in sessions to help both groups with queries. In addition, we provide an invaluable email and telephone helpline, with key contacts for support and resolution of any issues.

  • Registration for your Early Career Teacher, including QTS checks, with the Teacher Regulation Agency (TRA)
  • Support to fulfil your statutory responsibilities regarding your Early Career Teacher, including monitoring and feedback that the individual is working to an appropriate timetable
  • Ensuring that Early Career Teachers and their induction tutors have access to professional development through the ECF
  • Maintenance of records and assessment reports for each Early Career Teacher undertaking induction
  • Managing assessments, ensuring they are fairly reviewed, with concerns raised promptly and appropriate support given. Also includes consideration and decision making in the induction assessment period for completion, reduction, failure and extensions
  • Provide the TRA with this statutory information on your behalf.

We provide specific training packages for recently qualified teachers (RQT), mentors and Early Career Teachers. These are charged separately.

  • Mentor packages look at roles and responsibilities, managing difficult conversations, writing effective assessments, taking a deep dive into monitoring Early Career Teachers and having effective coaching conversations
  • Our RQT package supports Early Career Teachers who have only completed a one year induction by providing further professional development aligned with the ECF
  • The Early Career Teacher package supplements the training provided by the ECF by looking at applying pedagogy through specific subject areas. It also provides training on using and protecting your voice, promoting positive behaviour and an in-depth exploration of the SEND responsibilities. There will also be an opportunity to attend a conference at the end of your induction period.
